Upcoming Projects and Updates

I'm in the middle of a few projects and wanted to give you a peek of what I'm working on right now.

GAME ROOM

I snagged this vintage foosball table on Craigslist for $40 and plan on placing it in the second

living room aka game room

However, the second living room looks like this...

Oops...Yep, cleaning this room is another project in itself ;).

LIVING ROOM

I've made a few updates to the main living room which shows a glimpse of the style I'm going for:

contemporary Parisian, with a black and cream/ivory tone to match the black fireplace. I'm not

exactly sure how to further decorate the mantle at this point.

The items were things I already had that were used to decorate the apartment I lived in before.
  • Massive Paris print - $34.99  |  Ross
  • Damask printed ottomans - $24.99 each  |  Target
  • Huge chess pieces - $3.24 each  |  Target

DIY CHAIR REUPHOLSTERY
I started this almost a year ago and still have not finished. I bought 2 of these chairs for $10 each at Goodwill and the men who helped me stuff these chairs in my 2-door sports car started laughing when I pulled up in my car. I have a hatchback and just dropped the back seat and they both fit!  The foosball table fit in my car too...just had to unscrew the legs.  I do wish I had a large SUV, but then I'd probably be buying way too many furniture pieces...

NIGHTSTAND PAINTING
I bought a pair of wood nightstand tables for $15 on my way to work last year and they both have an interesting, heavy, marble top that is removable. I plan on painting the wood frame a glossy black and cover the marble top with a piece of black/white fabric. I also want to paint the handles a silver color or look for new silver modern handles.

Stay tuned!

Bathroom Makeover

I've finally gotten around to taking pictures of the bathroom makeover. I simply cleared the counters, updated the shower curtain, and added a few accessories I already had on hand.

Just a note, all of these items were purchased over the course of 2 years by perusing clearance sales at Target, Ross, Marshalls, etc. I'm glad I finally get to put them to good use!

  • Eiffel Tower - $9.97  |  Target
  • Shower Curtain - $7  |  Target
  • Shower Curtain Rings - $3  |  Marshalls
  • Woven Baskets - $4.99 each  |  Ross
  • Reversible Bathroom Rug - $6.49  |  Ross
  • Apothecary jars - less than $1 each  |  can't remember where...
  • Hand Towels - $2.49 each  |  Ross
  • Washcloth - $1.49 each  |  Ross  *I'm currently using the other one ;)
Of course, this is still a work in progress. I would like to update the shower curtain rod and hang a picture on the wall somewhere.

Beach Room - First Room Makeover

After moving into the house, I was excited to inject my design sense into an otherwise "blank slate" of a house. Since the rest of the rooms were filled with my stuff, I decided to start with the guest bedroom.

*Please excuse the Homer doll in the far right corner.

Here's to New Beginnings...

A few months ago, I moved to the city of Atlanta from the suburbs. There were a couple of things that I learned about myself during the move:

  1. I have way too many clothes. I can go for 6 months without washing my clothes, because I have that many clothes. I've done that, so its a proven fact.
  2. I'm a procrastinator. I didn't start packing until 2 days before.
  3. I keep everything, absolutely everything, therefore making me a pack rat and a burgeoning hoarder.
  4. I like white towels. You can get any type of white towel and they match. I packed about 2 large boxes full of those.
  5. I have way too many bath and beauty products. If it is half empty, I will buy a new bottle of shampoo, conditioner, makeup foundation, etc. You'll be happy to know that I threw away about half of my half-filled stash.

I created this blog to help track my progress in decorating my home with finds on a budget.  And so it begins...my story of decorating and finding new treasures. Enjoy!
